Can i use put an A or D string on my violin in place of a G string?

Can I use put an A or D string on my violin in place of a G string? I don't think I have a G string to use.

Tune your D string down to G. That is how a D string feels tuned to G. Do you consider that playable? If yes, then yes. But I suspect the answer will be "not really" at best. It will have less than half the tension you'd want.

Using an A string is madness.
